Milan Trip

Image:

We've just returned from the AAC field trip to the Generative Art conference in Milan.

As usual, the conference had an eclectic mix of presentations. Personal favourites included Kevin McGuire's arpeggio generator, Matt Lewis's procedural shading, Dustin Stokes and Jon Bird's fractal drawings.

Michael McNamara and Martha LaGess of LaMa also gave an excellent presentation, bringing together ideas concerning cybernetics and architecture. Their focus on place, activity and people relates strongly to the ideas of embodiment we study on the course.

Closer to home, I gave a presentation on an "ecomorphic theatre", and Chiron Mottram presented his work on urban generation.

Welcome to Adaptive Space

Welcome to the Adaptive Space, where we hope to keep you informed of events on and around the MSc Adaptive Architecture and Computation.

The student blogs will be summarised on our front page blog, along with contributions by the course staff on the MSc AAC.

We are using our in house software, Pafweb, to host the blog, so some of the features of a normal blog may be missing, such as the ability to post comments.

That said, on this site we hope to show you as much work (and some of the fun) from the course as possible. We intend to include Processing programs created by the students, as well as photographs from crits and trips.
